Greenwheel Electric Vehicles
In May 2017 Guangdong GreenWheel
Electric Vehicle Co. Ltd received approval to develop a 50,000 unit
plant in Mingcheng Industrial Park in Foshan, Guangdong Province.
Greenwheel indicated that the plant would be developed at a cost of $267
million ( RMB 1.783b ). GreenWheel tried to bring a Chinese version of the Renault Zoe
into the country in early 2012 but was not successful. From 2012 to
2017 the company focussed on developing neighborhood electric vehicles.
Now that GreenWheel has qualified for EV production it aims to start
production of the small crossover V5, which is an electric version of
the Weichai Enranger G3. |

2017 Week 20 Greenwheel gets production permit
Chinese automaker Shenzhen Greenwheel received the 14th electric vehicle
production certificate, allowing the company to produce 50,000 electric
vehicles per year. Greenwheel is the only Neighbourhood Electric Vehicle maker to
qualify for the permit. The company is expected to upgrade to
highway-capable vehicles now that it qualified for the production
permit.
