SF Motors Electric Vehicles

wattEV2buy explores the SF Motors electric car strategy and list the SF Motors EV models, news, and sales as it vies for a position in the fast-growing EV market.

SF Motors is owned by the Chinese company Chongqing Jinkang electric vehicles. SF Motors acquired the old Hummer assembly plant in Indiana with a production capacity of 50,000 units. SF Motors also has access to a 150,000 unit assembly plant in Chongqing at the Sokon plant. SF Motors signed Tesla founder Martin Eberhard as its electric car consultant in 2017. The Chinese operations of SF Motors are called SERES EV.

In 2019 Sokon Jinkang curtailed the US-based SF Motors operations due to financial difficulties, essentially killing the launch of the SF5 scheduled for 2020 in the USA. However, the production of the SERES SF5 in China is continuing, and the Range Extended version went on pre-order in early 2020.
