MAHINDRA REVA e2o EV
The Mahindra REVA e2o, an urban electric hatchback and previously know as the REVA NXR Concept vehicle launched in 2009 is the successor to the Mahindra REVi, also known as the G-Wiz. After years of delays, production of the car finally started in March 2013 at Mahindra’s Bangalore plant. Mahindra improved the safety features of the e20 EV over that of the G-WIZ enabling the car to pass European Crash Tests. Mahindra invested heavily in the success of the e2o with a 30,000 unit per year plant in Bangalore. The e2o include new technologies such as Sun2Car charging, enabling the charging from solar panels during the day. 2015 saw a significant price drop made possible by the Indian Government’s FAME scheme – Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles, supported by the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan of 2020. Customers lease the batteries through the “Goodbye Fuel Hello Electric” which includes a 75% battery performance guarantee.
The Mahindra REVA e2o was available in the UK up to May 2017. The Mahindra REVA e20 PLUS is available in 4 trims, P2/P4/P6 with a 11kWh battery and the P8 with a 16kWh battery. The Mahindra REVA e2o PLUS is priced at RS4.79 lakh ($7,350) and a battery lease, called a fixed energy fee, of Rs 2,999 ($46) per month for five years or 50,000km.
