wattEV2buy explores the Dongfeng Venucia EV models, electric car strategy, and sales as it vies for a position in the fast-growing Chinese EV market.
The State-owned Dongfeng, one of the top four vehicle manufacturers, is China. It partners with various international auto companies, including the PSA Group, Renault, Honda, Nissan, and KIA. Most of the vehicles it manufacturers is in Joint Venture with these multinationals, except for the vehicles branded under the Dongfeng Fengshen, which is its own. The company was the largest auto company by volume in 2014.
Dongfeng Venucia is a JV between Dongfeng and Nissan. In 2012 the Venucia e30 was introduced at the Guangzhou Auto Show. The e30 is a replica of the Nissan Leaf. The car was scheduled for production in China in 2015.
Dongfeng the Chinese state-owned auto manufacturer and JV partner to
international brands such as Nissan launched its “DFL Green Program
2022” at its 15th anniversary. The “DFL Green Program” implements the
“DFL Triple One” strategy announced in February this year. Through the
DFL Green Program Dongfeng plans to bring 20 new energy vehicles (NEV)
through its various subsidiaries to market by 2022. The DFL Green
Program targets an NEV share of total car sales of 30%. The Nissan JV,
Venucia will launch three new EVs by next year including a sedan and
SUV.
