The BAIC EX5 SUV EV is expected in 2018 and is targeted as a larger SUV than the current EX260. The test model rolled off the line in July 2017 and presented to the press. The BAIC EX5 hails from two concept vehicles introduced in 2016 and 2017. The BAIC EX400L SUV EV was introduced in April at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show and is a longer range version of the BAIC EX300L which was released at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. At the time it was undecided which of the two versions would be turned into a production vehicle. The BAIC EX5 SUV will compete with the BYD SONG EV and SAIC ROEWE RX5 EV.
