Iconiq Electric Vehicles
ICONIQ Motors is a Chinese EV startup established in 2014 and co-founded by Wu Nan and Ralph Debbas, who founded the Dubai based hypercar brand W Motors. W Motors was founded in 2012 in Lebanon and is well known for the $3.4mil LYKAN hypercar, of which it sold 7 models in 2013. ICONIQ Motors is funded by the Emirates SHAIKH SULTAN BIN ABDULLAALNUAIMI. In 2019 ICONIQ obtained a production certificate for new energy vehicles in terms of Chinese regulations. ICONIQ acquired a shareholding in Tianjin Tianqi Group Meiya Automobile Manufactory Co Ltd (Tianqi Meiya), ultimately allowing ICONIQ access to Tianqi Meiya’s production certificate. Also, in 2019 the company entered into an agreement with the Tianjin Jinghai District to settle its operations in the development zone. In the same year, ICONIQ appointed a new CEO, Dr. Bi Fukang. Dr. Bi Fukang has more than 20 years of experience in the automotive industry, previously working at BMW and Byton. While working for BMW, Dr. Fukang led the development and sales of BMW i8. |
