Welcome to wattEV2buy’s report for China EV sales in February 2018. We look at the Top brands and models, the gainers and losers and how the battle between battery electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technologies play out.
The highlights for Chinese electric car sales in January were:
- Chinese EV Sales grew by 148% Year-on-Year, selling 37,000 units more than the same period for the first two months in 2017.
- The BAIC EC180 gave up its top spot for the first time in 7 months, while the BYD Song replaced it in the first spot, retaking the position it last held in July 2017.
- Fewer new models were released this month and sales were slightly down from January 2018 due to Chinese New Year holidays. The 8% drop from January is not as much though as experienced during the 2017 festive season.
- Chinese EV sales in February constituted 2.02% of all passenger car sales for the month.
