Welcome to wattEV2buy’s report for China EV sales in June 2018. We look at the Top brands and models, the gainers and losers and how the battle between battery electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technologies play out.
The highlights for Chinese electric car sales in June were:
Chinese EV Sales nearly increased 74% on a year to year basis but was weaker at nearly 72,000 units than the 92,000 in May.
The BAIC retained the Top spot but with its compact SUV the BAIC EX series. Sales for the BAIC EC180/200 dropped 99%, but this can be ascribed to the imminent launch of the follow up the BAIC EC3.
Significant this month is the much broader distribution of EV sales across all models. It is also noteworthy that for the first time in many months that there is no AO class EV in the Top 3 EVs in China.
A total of around 51,000 pure electric (BEV) and some 21,000 plug-in hybrid models were sold in June 2018.
