Think, an electric car company from Norway filed for bankruptcy in 2011. The company produces around 2500 vehicles at its plant on Oslo, Norway. The company had a long history of attempts to bring electric vehicles into the mainstream and in the process filed for bankruptcy four times since 1991. Initially known as PIVCO, Personal Independent Vehicle Company its partners and owners over the period included Ford, Lotus Cars, KamKorp and Electric Mobility Solutions AS. The company experimented with various prototypes, starting with the PV2 and followed by the PIV3, City Bee, and PIV4 or TH!NK. Battery technology used over the period included NiCd, Lithium-Ion batteries supplied by Tesla used for the Tesla Roadster and in 2008 from A123 Systems. |
