SUZUKI SWIFT PHEV
SUZUKI SWIFT EV HYBRID unveiled in 2009 as a concept vehicle. The Suzuki Swift PHEV entered a demonstration program in 2010 of 60 units deployed in Japan but never saw it reaching commercial production. In 2014 Suzuki Maruti of India announced that it would rename the vehicle to Suzuki Swift Range Extender and produce some on a pilot project with the Indian Government in 2015. Fast Forward to 2016 Maruti Suzuki finally announced that it would produce a production vehicle in 2017. The introduction of the Indian Government’s FAME scheme to support electric vehicles is seen at the catalyst for the final step in the vehicles long development phase.
