2018 Week 8 SsangYong teases images of its concept for the Geneva Auto Show
Ssangyong teased images (below) of
its fifth electric concept EV, the SsangYong E-SIV, to be unveiled at
the 2018 Geneva auto show. The Korean automaker is yet to deliver a
production-ready electric vehicle and only plans to start producing EVs
from 2020. E-SIV is short for “Electronic Smart Interface Vehicle,” and
the concept promises a range of 280 miles. For full specs, please see
our dedicated page here. Previous electric concept cars presented by Ssangyong, a Mahindra Mahindra subsidiary were the KEV1 (2010), KEV2 (2011), e-XIV (2012), and the Tivoli EV-R (2015).
2017 Week 44 SsangYong gets approval to test self-driving tech
he Korean automaker SsangYong will start testing its autonomous vehicle technology on public roads in Korea. The SAE Level
3 system will be mounted on Tivoli SUV. SsangYong is accelerating its
autonomous vehicle development to get in line with the Korean
Government’s plans to commercialize self-driving by 2020.
2017 Week 26 Mahindra and SsangYong to develop EV SUV
The Korean auto manufacturer, Ssangyong, 72.85% owned by Indian
conglomerate Mahindra and Mahindra announced that it will produce of an
electric SUV by 2020. The SUV is to be assembled at the 250,000 unit
plant in Pyeongtaek South Korea. and promises a range of 300km with a
top speed of 150km/h. Ssangyong earmarked 1 trillion won ($1 billion)
for the development of SUVs and EVs over the next four years. The parent
Mahindra & Mahindra will support the development with funds and technical assistance.
2017 Week 14 SsangYong to build EV for Chinese market
The Chairman of Indian automaker Mahindra and Mahindra, Anand
Mahindra announced at the Seoul Motor Show this week that Mahindra and
its Korean subsidiary SsangYong aims to develop a luxury electric
vehicle by 2019, targeting entry into Chinese and US markets.
