The Sono Sion EV is produced in Germany and is the first standard solar car that additionally charges its battery through solar energy. The Chinese solar producer Hanergy proposed to produce EVs with solar but failed. The Karma Revero sportscar also includes solar cells on its roof.
The 330 solar cells cover the body of the Sion and have an efficiency of 24% and a peak value of 1.02kW. The Sono Sion Solar EV also allows you to charge household appliances up to 2.7kW through a two-point plug or through the Type 2 connector up to 7.6kW.
The Sion is available on pre-order for delivery in H2 2019.

Wee 32 2018 - Sono completes final testing before launch
Reuters reported that Sono finalized testing of the Sion Solar EV this summer in Bavaria. Data released by the crowdfunded start-up shows that the Sion can gain an extra 29km (18miles) over a 24 hour period from its 1.02kW solar system. The energy generated through the viSono System is “banked” and added to the vehicles range the next day. Sono will release the Sion in the second half of 2019 in Europe. According to the company’s website, it already has over 6,600 pre-orders. The Sion will be produced by a to be named contract manufacturer.
