Singulato Auto is the new energy vehicle brand of Chi Che-hung Technology Co., Ltd, founded in 2014 in Beijing as an internet company to produce a Chinese Tesla. The company aims to develop new energy vehicles, autonomous car systems, car networking services with a focus on big data and cloud computing. In April 2016 Singulato introduced its first electric car, the medium-sized Singulato iS6 SUV. Singulato plans for small batch production by the end of 2017 and mass production by March 2018 and priced between ¥200,000 and ¥300,000.
The roadmap for the Singulato electric car and autonomous strategy are as follows:
- 2017 SAE Level 2
- 2018 SAE Level 4 for specific conditions
- 2020 SAE Level 4
The company received $600 million Series B round financing sparking the development of a 200,000 unit Singulato EV plant at a cost of 80 billion yuan situated in Tongling, Anhui Province.
Singulato joins other tech-based companies such as Xiaopeng with plans to develop “internet” cars.

Week 35 2018 - Singulato gets Japanese Investor
The Japanese conglomerate Itochu Group invested ¥1 billion yen (¥60 million yuan) in Chinese EV start-up Singulato. The transaction will include closer co-operation between Japanese auto suppliers and Singulato. Singulato is one of the few EV start-ups that have access to the same Panasonic NCA 18650 battery used by Tesla. ITOCHU Corporation is one of the world’s leading integrated trading companies. The company is involved in machinery, aerospace, information, multimedia, metals and energy, chemicals, finance, real estate and other businesses. In the automotive industry, ITOCHU has been focusing on powertrain, intake and exhaust, brakes and other fields, and is engaged in the import and export of complete vehicles and spare parts. Initially, Singulato planned to bring its first EV, the iS6 to market late 2018 but now 2019 seems to be the new timeline. Singulato showcased a racing and offraod version of the iS6 Pro EV at the China Automobile modification and Associated Parts Exhibition (China Auto Salon) held in late July.
Week 17 2018 - Singulato announces working relationship with BAIC
Chinese EV start-up Singulato announced that it will cooperate with BAIC New Energy in the development of intelligent vehicle technology, charging and battery replacing facilities, distribution network, and manufacturing. Singulato Motors also released a new model, the iM8, and the new brand slogan “CodeMyD.N.A”. Singulato showcased its mass-market medium size SUV, the Singulato iS6 which will be available form the end of the year.
Week 14 2018 - Singulato invests $2.4bln in EV hub
Singulato raised $2.4 billion to invest in a new EV hub in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China over the next five years. Singulato will employ 3,000 engineers and researchers in the city and foster the creation of smaller companies in the hub. Singulato and the Suzhou City Government is entering into a partnership to also establish a ¥10 billion fund to nurture start-ups in the EV sector. The company is to launch its first model, the IS6 SUV in April.
