Week 25 2018 Mate RIMAC sells 10% share to Porsche
VW Group’s Porsche announced this week that it acquired 10% in the niche EV producer Rimac, famous for its Concept One hypercar crashed by ex-Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond. Based in Croatia Rimac was founded in 2009 30-year-old Mate Rimac EV pioneer. Rimac unveiled the C Two production car capable of a top speed of 412km and a range of 650km at the Geneva Auto Show earlier this year. Porsche valued Rimac’s expertise in electromobility and hope to foster a closer working relationship with the company.
Mate Rimac said, “This partnership now is an important step for Rimac on our way to become a component and system supplier of choice for the industry in electrification, connectivity and the exciting field of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.”
Week 11 2018 RIMAC to manufacture electric motors in China
The Croatian high-performance EV company Rimac and Camel Group, the largest battery manufacturer in Asia, agreed to invest $158 million in the creation of a company that will produce 50,000 EV batteries and engines per year for electric cars and buses. Rimac will acquire 40% of the JV company, Zhongke Luo Rui Technology Co. through the investment of €5 million in cash, knowledge, and technology. The balance of the capital investment will come from Camel Group.
Camel Group became the second largest shareholder in Rimac Automobili after founder Mate Rimac by investing €30 million in 2017 to support the development of the Rimac C_Two hyper-car unveiled earlier the month at the Geneva International Motor Show.
Week 10 2018 RIMAC unveils C_Two hypercar at Geneva Motor Show
RIMAC Automobili of Croatia unveiled its latest €1 million plus GT hypercar with butterfly doors, the RIMAC C_TWO. All in all performance wise the C_Two offers more or less the same as the Tesla Roadster Gen 2 at a much higher price. Rimac will only produce 150 C_Two’s and plans to develop 20 in 2018. Week 23 2017 Richard Hammond totals a Rimac Concept One
Ex Top Gear host, Richard Hammond totaled a Rimac Concept One, valued at over $1 million during the production of the new Amazon Series, The Grand Tour. Richard Hammond had minor injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Switzerland. The popular TV host was fully conscious while being airlifted. The Rimac One burst into flames after Richard left the vehicle. It is Richard second accident this season; he crashed in Mozambique earlier in 2017.
