RENAULT TWIZY EV
Twizy, the top-selling electric car in Europe for 2012 was first introduced as a concept vehicle in 2009 and rebadged by Renault in 2010 as the New Mobility Concept. Sales of the production version commenced early 2012 in France. Classed as a two-seater Electricity City Car or Neighbourhood Electric Vehicle. Two variants of the NEV is available, a heavy quadricycle and the Twizy 45 which are an Urban model and a light quadricycle. The Twizy 45 only requires a driving age of 14 if permitted with a special driver’s license. Conversion for winter condition is possible with winter tires and electric blanket for the passenger.
The Renault Twizy has been cloned by a Chinese company, the Rayttle E28 EV.
The modular self-driving company Open Motors and Renault partnered in 2017 to create an open source vehicle based on the Renault Twizy. The project was introduced at the 2017 CES and is named POM (Platform Open Mind) being the world’s first open source mass-market vehicle platform. POM is available to start-ups, independent laboratories, hobbyists, and researchers, allowing them to customize the software and driving experience.
