In March 2018 Ford Global Markets President Jim Farley announced that the company’s new Edison Division responsible for its electric vehicle program is working on bringing a Mustang like SUV to market in 2020. The new vehicle was first named the Mach 1 but after some negative feedback to naming was left to a later date. The “Mustang EV” as we shall call it for the moment will be based on the same platform as the Ford Focus and promise a range of at least 300 miles (483km).
