Week 3 2109 - Cadillac shows images if first EV Crossover
Days after GM announced that Cadillac would it’s preferred EV brand the company released images of its first EV developed on GM’s BEV3 flexible platform. No other details were released other than Cadillac saying they will release one model every 6-months but not if those models will be EV. Accepting that Cadillac to be GM’s EV spearhead one can assume that the new model pipeline to include at least a plug-in hybrid version of the upcoming new models.
The BEV 3 platform is centered around the drive units and battery cells which are flexible and modular for usability throughout GM vehicle lineups globally. The BEV3 platform can be configured as front-, rear- or all-wheel drive cars with various battery systems including fuel cell units.
Expanding on the new Cadillac Crossover Steve Carlisle, president of Cadillac said “Cadillac’s EV will hit the heart of the crossover market and meet the needs of customers around the world. It will represent the height of luxury and innovation while positioning Cadillac as the pinnacle of mobility.”
