BYTON unveiled the K-Byte Concept Sedan A-EV (Autonomous electric vehicle) in June 2018. The company intends to bring a production version to market in 2021. The Byton K-Byte is SAE a Level 4 autonomous vehicle. BYTON has partnered with Aurora, a self-driving startup by former autonomous program leaders from Tesla, Google, and Uber, to help them make their EVs drive themselves. The Byton K-Byte is packed with technology and takes you to the forefront of connected mobility. Multiple modems and fully integrated flat antennas provide a bandwidth of up to 1000 Mbit/s. Onboard programmable SIM cards, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and shared connectivity maximize coverage and increase connectivity options making the BYTON one of the fastest and most reliably connected EVs on the data highway.
The Byton K-Byte Concept has security in mind in the connected world through encryption of data not only when the vehicle is connected to the cloud, but also within the vehicle network.
The autonomous capabilities of the vehicle are striking and contribute to the design of the Byton K-Byte A-EV. The elegant and slender autonomous module on the rooftop, the bow-shaped BYTON LiBow system integrates front and rear lidar sensors to allow for a full-view panoramic scan of the vehicle’s surroundings. BYTON’s retractable LiGuards side lidar system is located below the side-view cameras.
The design of the BYTON K-Byte also has an impressive front face, upgraded BYTON Smart Surfaces deployed on both fascia and tail for a stunning echo effect and a layout of light strips creating a deep three-dimensional visual while giving an enhanced sense of technology being utilized. Immediately above the Smart Surfaces is an integrated taillight that runs through to the tail and drawing comparisons to the horizon.
