Byton unveiled the Byton Concept SUV electric car on the 7th of January at the CES 2018 and labeled it the world’s first Smart Intuitive Vehicle. The Byton Concept EVs design includes a closed front-end fascia, disappearing door handles, hidden antennas, side view cameras, and face recognition cameras. The interior design includes a 49 inch (1245mm) coast-to-coast Byton Shared Experience Display.
The Byton Concept EV is a fully autonomous electric car with five dimensions of control consisting of voice, facial recognition, gesture, touch and physical through systems such as Amazon Alexa.
Byton ensures that the Byton Concept EV is the fastest, secure and most reliably connected vehicle on the data highway. Through multiple modems and fully integrated flat antennas provide a 5G bandwidth of up to 1000 Mbit/s. Onboard programmable SIM cards, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and shared connectivity maximize coverage and increase connectivity options.
The Byton Concept EV provides connectivity with wearable devices for its myHealth application to be your private health and fitness partner. With myCommunication you can use video, phone or social media to connect with the outside world. Through myEntertainment allowing simultaneous integration of streaming services, you can enjoy your favorite programs uninterrupted, in or out of your BYTON. myActivities allow you to drag and drop events on your BYTON Smart Agenda timeline to reorganize your schedule in real time. This unique function works together with a state-of-the-art navigation system that features 3D mapping with intelligent suggested stops. These are based on the matching of your schedule, preferences and nearby points of interest.
Byton borrows from Apple’s playbook creating Byton ID to personalize shared cars. Byton Life is a smart and open cloud platform that seamlessly connects your applications, data, and devices. It is the backbone that enables an intuitive and engaging experience with BYTON. Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, BYTON Life will offer you personalized services and entertaining interactions.
Two versions of the Byton Concept is planned, a 200kW rear wheel drive with a range of 400km / 250mi and a 350kW all-wheel drive with a range of 520km (325mi) delivering a torque of 400NM or 710NM. The drivetrain is designed to be future compatible with always being able to receive the latest generation batteries. The rear wheel drive model has a 71kWh battery while the AWD has a 95kWh battery.
Byton offers an AR visualizer whereby you can discover the Byton Concept EV, share opinions, customize your car and order it. The Byton Concept will be available in China from 2019 and the USA and Europe from 2020.

Week 2 2019 - Byton M-Byte one step closer to reality
BYTON reveals a near production-ready version of the upcoming M-Byte SUV displaying the digital cockpit (see cover image) at the 2019 CES in Las Vegas. The premium intelligent electric vehicle brand sees the automobile of the future as a smart device with its models a mobile digital lounge. According to Dr. Carsten Breitfeld, CEO and Co-founder of BYTON “BYTON’s M-Byte represents the transformation of the traditional car into a next-generation smart device for every user,” on which he adds “We achieve this through the combination our state-of-the-art EV platform and our proprietary BYTON Life digital ecosystem.” The Byton M-Byte showcased at the 2019 CES has the largest in-car display screen of any model available to date. Byton calls its huge 48-inch wide curved screen a Shared Experience Display (SED) which displays vehicle, driving information and content options in an intuitive way. Users interact with the SED through either a 7-inch Driver Tablet at the center of the steering wheel or an 8-inch TouchPad placed between the driver and front passenger seat. The driver and front passenger can also rotate their seats inward by 12 degrees while passengers in the rear of the Byton cockpit has access to entertainment screens. Although the 48-inch screen itself is not a touch-pad to interact with the car users, have access to various interaction modes including voice, buttons and gesture controls.
Byton offers a unique user experience through its Byton Life digital ecosystem which is open source and includes advanced machine learning capabilities. Byton is also taking advantage of Amazon’s Alexa voice control system. The final production model will be unveiled in the summer of 2019 and mass production at the 150,000 unit Nanjing plant in China will commence at the end of the year.
Week 35 2018 - Byton Engineering Prototype revealed
Byton revealed the first engineering prototype of the Byton M-Byte on the 28th of August in Nanjing as the EV start-up enters the final stages before mass-production. The engineering prototype will be used to perform tests such as active and passive safety testing. Pre-production of the M-Byte is scheduled for the first half of 2019 for the Chinese launch later the year. The Byton M-Byte will also be available in Europe and the USA in 2020.
Features of the Byton M-Byte include daytime running lights which interacts with the environment around it and also show different expressions. The doors open through facial recognition and the rearview mirror is replaced by a camera. The center console LCD screen of the BYTON M-Byte Concept is 125cm by 25cm and supports gesture recognition. The M-Byte’s dual-spoke steering wheel is also equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen with buttons on both sides for functions such as seat adjustment.
Week 1 2018 - Byton Concept unveiled at 2018 CES
Byton, the EV brand launched by Chinese social media giant Tencent in September will unveil its crossover EV on the first day of the CES. Byton recently opened offices in Silicon Valley with the intention to also sell its vehicles in the USA. Byton CEO and co-founder, Carsten Breitfield, was responsible for the development of the BMW i8. Byton’s strategy is to produce Smart Intuitive Vehicles by marrying German design, technologies from Silicon Valley with low-cost Chinese manufacturing. The Byton Crossover will showcase the company’s vision to redesign the cockpit to deliver an autonomous and personalized digital experience which it labels as the iPhone on wheels
