Founded in 2003, the joint venture between BMW and Brilliance Auto is situated in Shenyang in Liaoning Province north-east China. The company formed a separate brand in 2013, Zinoro to deepen its localization in the Chinese market. BMW Brilliance electric vehicles strategy is built on BMW’s i-series platform and includes some iPerformance model adaptions exclusively for the Chinese market. China has been central to BMW’s electric vehicle strategy; the country was one of the few selected for the ActiveE field testing.
